Obituary

SHERIDAN – Constance E. “Connie” (Avery), 70, Flinton, PA and Apollo Beach, FL (formerly of Acosta and West Mifflin, PA), went to join the angels with Jesus on August 9, 2020 after a long bout with kidney and liver diseases, a rare infection and pre-leukemia. She passed away peacefully in her sleep with her husband Mike at her side, after being hospitalized for 8 weeks at Tampa General and 2 weeks at Kindred Hospital in Tampa, FL. Born August 26, 1949 in Somerset, daughter of the late James K. and Joan C. (Hay) Avery. Preceded in death by brothers Richard and Dennis Avery, and daughter-in-law Karie Sheridan. Survived by husband and high school sweetheart of nearly 53 years Michael E. Sheridan; sons Michael P. (Stephanie), Carrolltown and Matthew E. (Sara), Riverview, FL; sister Vickie Avery, Apollo Beach, FL; sister-in-law Patricia Sheridan, Cresson; 6 grandchildren - Charlotte (Seth), Michael A., Matthew, Sage, Noah, and Gabriel; one great grandson - Finn; nephews Jason Morin and James Avery, one very special niece Amanda Morin (Leaton); special uncles Arnie Hay and Eddie Hay, and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins. Connie was a 1968 graduate of the former Jenner-Boswell High School. She stayed close friends with many people from her school days especially Gloria Morgan and Toni Niemec Mayak. She attended St. Basil’s Catholic Church in Coalport, PA and St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Ruskin, FL. She retired from the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, West Mifflin, PA where she worked with special needs children for 20 years. For the last 9 years, Connie and Mike’s time was split between Glendale Yearound in PA, where she loved to sail and spend time with her lake friends and visit with Gene and Carol Pierce and Lou and Joan Bott and Caribbean Isles in FL where she played dominos, bingo and cards with many special friends, especially Ron and Bonnie Hershey. She was an active member of the Lake Glendale Sailing Club, Tampa Sailing Squadron and the Red Hat Society. She loved eating crab legs, baking Christmas cookies and late-night texting sessions with her buddy Kris. Her other hobbies included crocheting, knitting, needlework and collecting lighthouses and teapots. Viewing from 2-6PM Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held 2PM Sunday. Funeral Mass 10AM Monday at All Saints Catholic Church, Boswell with Rev. Fr. Aron Maghsoudi, Celebrant. Committal Jenner Crossroads Cemetery. Donations in Connie’s memory may be sent to Children’s Aid Home Programs at www.cahprogram.org.

Dear Sheridans, Jeff and I send our sincere condolences. I remember so well having such a fine visit with Connie at Mike and Steph’s 25th anniversary party! I took a photo of her with Patty.
