Obituary for Charles Paul "Chuck" Trexel

TREXEL – Charles Paul “Chuck”,72, of Jenner Township, went to be with Jesus in Jenner Township on his beloved “mountain” on November 27, 2021. Born April 4, 1949 in Johnstown. Son of the late Ernest Pletcher, II and Flora (Miller) Pletcher. He was adopted by the late Merrit and Mary (Miller) Trexel in 1955. He is also preceded in death by the Pletcher siblings, Elizabeth Schegle, Katherine Wulk, Rose Cross, Mary Hertzog and Roy, George and Ernest Pletcher. Survived by wife of 45 years, Debra “Deb” Ann (Baraniak) Trexel; children, Christine, Jerome; Brent, Ralphton; April married to Bryan Baker, Ferrellton and Lacey and her boyfriend Bruce Baker, Jr.; beloved grandchildren Lydia Trexel, Hunter and Bella Trexel and Corden and Daxton Baker; adoptive siblings, Carole married to Jules Broder, New York and Joanne Morgan, Johnstown; biological siblings, Bertha widow of Chuck Alessi, Michigan and Sadie Sodmont, Nanty Glo, who “found” her lost brother when she discovered he worked with her at the Ebensburg Center in 1991. This was the site of the orphanage he stayed at for a time before being adopted by the Trexels. It was quite a reunion with siblings he didn’t know he had. Chuck graduated from Conemaugh Township High School in 1968. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in June, 1969, serving as a Corporal in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in June, 1970 with a Purple Heart. He worked several jobs, including Somerset Foundry, Somerset Door & Column and construction before retiring from Ebensburg Center at age 62 with 20 years of service. He was a member of Quemahoning Rod & Gun Club, Jenner Community Sportsmen, Jenner Rod & Gun Club and Ferndale Sportsmen. He managed the Garden of Hope Food Pantry in Jerome for several years after the passing of it’s founder Owen Hofecker and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Chuck enjoyed taking Laurel View Village residents on fishing excursions to the Que. He loved his Lord first and foremost and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved family passionately and prayed faithfully for them. Being a “kid at heart”, he truly enjoyed playing and doing things with his grandchildren and they adored him. The annual event of planting the “pumpkin patch” and tending to it was enjoyed by all. He loved playing many sports, especially slow-pitch softball, playing in many leagues before hanging up his cleats at the ripe old age of 62. Through the years he taught and supported his children in their sports endeavors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and passed his passion on to his son and grandson. We praise God for allowing him to go home doing what he loved, hunting. He was selfless and would do anything for anyone. Tender and tough, he was a man of his word, always standing for what was right. He will be greatly missed until we will be reunited with him in heaven.
