Obituary for Brian E. "Donuts" Donia

DONIA - Brian E. “Donuts”, 62, Somerset, passed away March 13, 2021 at In-Touch Hospice House, Somerset. Born March 25, 1958 in Trenton, MI. Son of the late Samuel A. and Mary Kathryn (Bruening) Donia. Survived by beloved brothers Timothy (Barb) Donia and Anthony (Debbie) Donia; he was dearest uncle to Samantha and Jacob Donia; loving great uncle to Summer Sawnick; beloved “son” to Francis Donia. He will leave behind many close friends including the Dunmyer family - Tracy, Jeff and their children, and all of his friends whom he held dear as family. Brian proudly served his country in the US Navy. Afterwards he was a Corrections Officer at the Somerset County Jail for 18 years. His fellow officers knew they could always count on him for having their backs at any given time, and are very honored to have served with him. His career also included working at Williams Music Store in Somerset and Buds Auto Repair. His lifelong creative hobby was playing his many musical instruments and helping others learn how to play and sing. He was notorious for breaking out into jam sessions in someone’s garage and making musical memories to last a lifetime. As an avid fan of auto racing, he was a longtime member of the Jeff Dunmyer / Bruening Motorsports Race Team, as well as a current member of Josh Dunmyer‘s Race Team. Brian was a member of the Stoystown American Legion as well as member of Jenner Rod & Gun Club. He was also a certified auctioneer at Bluebell Auction. He loved boating at Deep Creek Lake in Maryland or just hanging out on his glider with friends and family. Brian was well known for his infectious personality and willingness to help anyone in need. His unique ability to always make a difference in somebody’s day means he never met a stranger. At his request there will be no viewing or service held. Interment of his ashes will be held at a later date at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Brownstown, MI. Donations in Brian’s memory may be given to In-Touch Hospice, PO Box 1173, Somerset, PA 15501.
