Obituary for Andrew A. "Puner" Panek Jr.

PANEK - Andrew A., Jr. “Puner”, 84, Boswell, died January 10, 2019 at his home. Born February 21, 1934 in Jenners. Son of Andrew A., Sr. and Helen M. (Matsko) Panek. Preceded in death by parents, sister Delores Panek, nephew James Corbett and father and mother-in-law Frank and Rose (Policicchio) Maruca. Survived by wife of 60 years, Antoinette (Maruca) Panek; daughters LeAnn married to Greg Kaltenbaugh, Boswell and Celeste married to Edward Walker, Jenner Township; grandchildren Chad G. Kaltenbaugh married to Kelly Miller, Stoystown; Cory A. Kaltenbaugh and girlfriend Jessica Tomlinson, Boswell and Olivia Walker; great-grandson Kyler J. Kaltenbaugh; brother and sister-in-law Bud and JoAnn (Maruca) Cornett, Sanford, FL and fur buddies Oreo, Oakley and Gunner. A 1952 graduate of former J.B.J. Joint High School where he played baseball, football and wrestling. A U.S. Air Force veteran of Korean War. Retired employee of Latrobe Construction Company. Former funeral assistant for Hoffman Funeral Homes. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish, where he sang in the choir; Boswell Post 461 American Legion; Jenner Rod & Gun Club and Boswell Lodge 1780 Sons of Italy. A charter member of North Star Wrestling Boosters and life member of Boswell Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Jenner Area Sewer Authority, Boswell Borough Council and was Secretary for UMWA Local 1600. Viewing from 2-4 & 6-8PM Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell where a vigil for the deceased will be held 3:30PM Sunday with Deacon Jay Pyle. Funeral Mass 10AM Monday at All Saints Church, Boswell with Rev. Fr. Brian L. Warchola, Celebrant. Committal St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Boswell. Military honors by Somerset County Honor Guard.
