Obituary for Andrew G. "Bun" Mayak, Jr.

MAYAK – Andrew G., Jr. “Bun”, 72, Acosta, died April 26, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown. Born July 31, 1947 in Hooversville. Son of the late Andrew G. Mayak, Sr. and Viola (Esposita) Mayak-Gelpi. Survived by wife of 53 years Antoinette C. “Toni” (Niemiec) Mayak; daughters Barbara A. Mayak, Johnstown; Christina A. married to Michael Minick, Jennerstown and Mandy L. married to Mario Corden, Somerset; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother of Tom and wife Elaine, Boswell; Jim and wife Jeanette, Ralphton; Bill and wife Pat, Jerome; Donna and husband Jack Updyke, Ralphton; Ed and wife Cindy, Ralphton and Mary Mayak, Jennerstown; step mother Erma Matthews-Mayak, Somerset; step brother Paul Esposita, New Jersey; step sisters Tina (Matthews) and husband Bob Wolk, Somerset and Denise (Matthews) and husband William Hering, Federalsburg, MD and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1966 graduate of Jenner-Boswell High School. A U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam War. Former coal miner with 26 years of service. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish and Jenner Rod & Gun Club. Bun enjoyed being in the outdoors fishing, hunting and hiking for ginseng. An avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Due to current public health restrictions, a private viewing will be held. A memorial mass will be announced at a later date. Committal St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Boswell.
