Obituary for Alivia J. Ickes

ICKES – Alivia J., 23, stepped into heaven December 6, 2020 at her home in Boswell. Born May 19, 1997 in Somerset. Daughter of Randy J. Ickes, Boswell and Hope A. (Yates) married to Joseph Tunstall, Hollsopple. Preceded in death by grandfathers Rev. C.J. Ickes and Leon Yates, Sr. In addition to her parents, she is survived by brothers Luke Zellem and wife Taylor, Georgia and Logan Zellem, Ligonier; sister and best friend Alexa Ickes, Richland; grandmothers Ruby (Horner) Ickes, Boswell and Toni (Porto) Wainwright, Hollsopple; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her stepsiblings and special pet dog Bella Noel. She was a 2015 graduate of North Star High School and a 2017 graduate of Penn Highlands Community College. In 2019 she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Post University, Waterbury, CT having graduated Cum Laude. She was currently working on her Master’s Degree from Messiah College, Mechanicsburg, to be a Licensed Mental Health Therapist. Life member of Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle, near Jennerstown where she participated in many activities including Women’s Ministry, Bible School, Children’s Church, Nursery and Choir. Alivia enjoyed reading her Bible and devotionals, exercising and being outdoors. Some of her other favorite activities were hunting with her dad, walking with her dog and swimming. She also loved all animals and spending time with her family and close friends, especially Anthony DiValentone and Mary Leiford. Alivia brought joy to everyone she met with her contagious smile and outgoing personality. During her 23 years of life she had a positive impact on all those around her and was an inspiration to others through her Christian faith. Even through her illness, she never complained and remained faithful in her walk with God. Some of her favorite Bible verses that carried her through tough times were Psalm 23, Philippians 4:6-8, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 and 1 Thessalonians 5:18. Friends received from 2-8PM Wednesday at Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle, 7415 Somerset Pike, Boswell. Friends also received from 10AM until time of service 11AM Thursday at the Tabernacle with Pastor Gary W. Anderson presiding.
