Obituary for Luther Leon "Luke" Speicher

SPEICHER - Luther Leon “Luke”, 87, Jenner Township, Somerset County, went to meet his heavenly Father January 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Born June 14, 1932 in Jenner Township. Son of the late Thomas and Hazel (Spory) Speicher. Survived by wife of 62 years Helen F. (Blank) Speicher; four daughters, Shelley, Loretta, Alicia and Priscilla; one son, Jesse; six grandchildren, including special grandson Jason and two great-grandchildren. Luke served in the U S Army during the Korean War. He worked as a finished carpenter for many years and was a retired employee of Timken Steel, Latrobe. However, he never stopped working; building fences to furniture, grading lumber and using his dump truck wherever needed. After posting the bond to save the Roxbury Bandshell in 2005, he worked tirelessly to preserve and restore this beloved historic landmark. Member of Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Jennerstown. A graveside service will be held 11AM Friday, January 17th at Mt. Zion Cemetery, 724 Klines Mill Road, Boswell with Loretta Speicher presiding.
