SHIELDS - Euldean V. “Deany” (Reckner), 89, formerly of Jerome, died May 25, 2019 at Windber Woods. Born in Jerome on July 1, 1929 the daughter of Harry and Ada (Shroyer) Reckner. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 61 years Robert W. “Moe” Shields on January 5, 2011; brothers James and Albert “Tub”; sisters Naomi Oaks, Janice Lint and Dorcas Garlesky; niece Darcy Oaks and nephew Robert Reckner. Survived by daughter Diana “ Nan” married to Anthony “Skip” Temyer, Hooversville; son Samuel Shields and his special friend Annette Kramer, Valparaiso, Indiana; grandsons Jedadiah and Luke Temyer and Tyler Shields and his wife Dana; great-grandchildren Jackson, Ivy, Tyler Jr. and Travis; loving sister Donna married to Warren “Bussie” Shaffer, Hooversville and many nieces and nephews. “Deany” was an avid bingo player and volunteer at the Jerome fire hall where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed doing ceramics, sitting on her front porch swing and watching Pittsburgh sports, especially the Pirates. A member of the former Jerome Church of the Nazarene and attended Maple Spring Church of the Brethren. She worked at Dorfman & Hoffman Garment Factories in Jerome and Boswell and JC & Me in Hollsopple. She was also employed by ALUCP as a caretaker for her grandson Luke. “Nammy”, as the kids called her, was a loving mother and grandmother. She never had a problem striking up a conversation with strangers and listening to their story. Viewing from 4-8PM Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10AM until time of service 11AM Thursday at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren with Pastor Chris Heinlein presiding. Interment Maple Spring Cemetery.
